Forthcoming events @ Apley Farm Shop

Leeks imageThere’s lots going on this Spring at Apley Farm Shop. Offering a Click & Collect service is an issue we’ve been looking into, so Harper Adams University students have been conducting a survey amongst our customers in the past weeks to determine whether or not it’s a service we should launch. It’s also a subject under discussion at the FARMA conference today, so it’ll be interesting to see the results.

Saturday 1 March is St David’s Day, Wales’s national day. Daffodils are out in our garden & we’re busy at the Farm Shop sourcing a few varieties of leeks. We all love them in our family, so I’ve printed a few recipes for our customers, including:

  1. Lamb & leek casserole
  2. Sausage, bacon & leek lasagne
  3. Leeks wrapped in ham in cheese sauce
  4. Leek & potato cakes

Photography course 2014 poster by KHB JpegThe 7-week Children’s Art Club starts this Thursday 27 February & will run 4-5.30pm until Thurs 10 April.  Themes include: Collages, wax drawings, nature art, painting, salt dough, giant art & potato printing. Plus children can make & decorate pancakes on Tuesday 4 March.

The first Open tour of 2014 of Apley Walled Gardens is on Tuesday 4 March, meeting at the Shop at 10.30am.

There’s no craft fair at Apley Farm Shop as advertised on Sunday 2 March (previous years have just been too cold !). The first one this year will be on Sunday 6 April, 10-4pm as usual. This year, we’ll be featuring one Shropshire crafter each month, hopefully with hands-on workshops. There will be a monthly change of crafters, ensuring customers & visitors get to see a wide range of Shropshire crafts by the end of the year.

Karen Hartnell-Beavis has only 2-3 places left on her photography course, starting Wednesday 5 March. The course will run on 5, 12 & 19 March, 10-noon in the Conference Room, covering photography basics, portrait photograpy & digital photography. All very useful issues for amateur photographs ! I wish I could go along, as I need great photos for all my daily marketing, advertising & press work.

Looking further ahead:

The launch of the Second Apley Archives Exhibition will be on Wednesday 28 May, 6-7.30pm in The Creamery @ Apley Farm Shop, so do email me any photos, documents or newspaper articles you are happy to share: enquiries@apleyfarmshop.co.uk or call the Estate Office on 01746 762 110.

The Apley Estates Run organised by the Black Country Triathletes was postponed from Sunday 16 February to Saturday 27 September, 2-6pm. http://www.blackcountrytriathletes.com/2014/02/14/apley-estates-run-new-date-confirmed/

Hi I am trying to find an email address to send some information about crochet courses that I run locally. I have been to Apley many times and I think the cafe at Apley would be a great place to have crochet lessons in a coffee morning style set up. I would love to discuss it with you so if you could send a contact that would be great. My name is Jo Roberts and my email is broseley@talktalk.net
