Apley Farm Shoppers’ favourite products & Mike’s Homemade

2014-03-19, Mike's HomemadeApley Farm Shoppers’ favourite products include eggs, pork pies, ham, Julie’s lemon drizzle cake, white sliced bread, granary bloomers & the Great Little Honey Company honey. Broccoli came 12th & Snowdonia Black Bomber Cheddar 13th on the list in January.

To ensure we meet our customers’ needs as closely as possible, we’re always analysing our sales data. it obviously helps us decide in which direction to expand & develop. For me, seeing our top selling products is the most interesting & not at all what I’d necessarily expect. Some of the list varies of course during the year, but eggs have nearly always been number 1 since we began nearly exactly 3 years ago, on 31 March 2011.

I’m aiming to profile one of the Apley Farm Shop suppliers every week. This week it’s Mike’s Homemade – ‘award winning chutneys, pickles, preserves, marmalades, mustards & honeys’ . He’s coming to the Shop this Saturday (22 March), so if you’ve got a few minutes, pop in for a free taster. He has just launched a gourmet range. At Apley, so far we stock scrumpy apple chutney, vine ripe tomato chutney, apricot & amaretto, lemon & lavender marmalade, kumquat, orange & passion fruit marmalade. His seville marmalade has just won marmalade awards gold. His jams are also used in The Creamery Café &  in our cakes made on site by Julie.

£3.50 per jar with a weekend special offer of £6 for two jars. We will also be doing a special offer on the non-gourmet range at £8.45 for 3 jars.

Coming from neighbouring Staffordshire, Mike [Dentith]’s products are all free from artificial ingredients & preservatives, setting agents & flavourings. He predominantly supplies independent retailers like Apley Farm Shop.
