Pigg’s Playbarn gardening club

Pigg’s Playbarn at Apley Farm Shop are holding a gardening club every Thursday from 5 June to 17 July. Expert gardener Phil Allen, who’s Head Gardener in Apley Walled Gardens, will be popping in between 4-5pm each Thursday, to share his gardening tips with the children & their carers. £3.95 per session

The Club will take place in the outdoor play space of the playbarn. We recommend children come in old clothes. The children have 30 mins free play in the Playbarn 5-5.30pm. We’ll be planting pumpkins, sunflowers, cress, mustard, tomatoes, radish, French beans, mixed salad leaves & herbs.

On Open Farm Sunday on 8 June, Phil Allen, Head Gardener at Apley Walled Gardens, will be on hand to help you plant beans. You can also collect a pumpkin shoot in a pot that day. To enter our bean competition, children need to send in photos (to enquiries@apleyfarmshop.co.uk) of their French beans by 12 noon (when the winner will be announced), Saturday 27 Sept or bring them along to the Apley Harvest Festival by 3pm that day (27 Sept).

To enter our pumpkin competition, children can bring their pumpkins to be weighed & labelled at the farm shop cash till during Spookley week 25-31 October. The pumpkin winner will be announced at 2pm on Halloween day, Friday 31 October.
