Apley Walled Garden – First radishes & lettuces of 2014

2014-05-15, Lettuces2014-05-04, AWG 2014 first radishesOur salads this weekend were decorated with Apley Walled Garden‘s first 2014 radishes, mizuna & rocket. Here’s a photo record of how the lettuces are coming on ! With these heavenly days recently with temperatures over 20 degrees, I imagine it’s been up to at least 23 deg in the Gardens. Perfect for giving 2014’s crops a head start. I’m sure our customers will enjoy tasting the lettuces very soon – Creamery Café, Apley Farm Shop & as well as the students at the University of Wolverhampton. Mixed salad leaves are also already there. Carrots, coriander, herbs, artichokes, strawberries, raspberries, red & green leafed spinach – small, so good for salads.

Phil’s preparing the first 10 hanging baskets to decorate the courtyard Apley Farm Shop this morning.
