Norton Garden open for charity
The village of Norton in the middle of the Apley Estate is awash with keen gardeners & their gardens look especially lovely at this time of year. Amongst them are Sue & Peter Middleton, who are once again opening their garden this weekend, raising money for the Kaleidoscope Theatre Group, based locally at Kemberton Hall. In previous years, they’ve raised funds for Stockton Church & for the first time last year raised £350 for Kaleidoscope.
Peter, who runs Middleton Groundworks, enjoys working outdoors & creating new landscapes. His wife Sue chooses the overall garden design, plants & colours. They’ve been developing the garden over 25 years. When they first arrived in 1976, there was only lawn. Being so dry in 1976, it was a tough year to start ! Right now, their rose garden looks spectacular, but they also love the vegetable & wild flower parts of the garden.
Admission is £2 & opening times are 2-5pm, Sunday 22 June 2014.
There will also be a plant & cake stall – donations welcome.
Address: 21 Village Road, Norton, Shropshire, TF11 9ED – It’s only a minutes from Apley Farm Shop, so perfect for traditional Sunday lunch in The Creamery or the Courtyard beforehand !
