This provides a special opportunity for consumers to meet producers, chat about the food & drinks & better understand where it comes from & how it’s made.

Produced by chance by some friends of ours, Chilton Damson Gin are coming this Saturday, 4 October, 9.30-12.30pm, to Apley Farm Shop to offer free tasters to shoppers. Halfpenny Green Vineyard will also be there 12-3.30pm, so it could be quite a tipsy Saturday !

Fiona just sent me this short summary: “Chilton Damson Gin is a small business based in rural South Shropshire producing Damson Gin using locally grown and distinctively flavoursome Shropshire Prune variety of damson. This area of Shropshire still has many old damson orchards as they were originally grown for the dye which was used for the carpet industry in Kidderminster and the naval uniforms that were made in Birmingham. The Damson are steeped with the sugar and Greenalls London Dry Gin for 8 months before bottling and filtering. The end result is a rich, smooth, plummy liqueur that can be enjoyed on its own, with a mixer or added to Prosecco for that extra treat.”
