Hazel at Apley Walled Garden

I know this looks just like any old bush, but it’s in fact hazel regrowth after 1 year in Apley Walled Garden. Neill Mapes, who uses wood from around the Apley Estate to make his beautiful bowls, chopping boards & spoons sold in Apley Farm Shop, is very pleased how it’s bounced back after he’d created a dead hedge from the branches to keep the deer out. They were quick to nibble the tops, but in doing so, it stops them going further – they’d cause so much damage in the walled garden !
