What’s on in June at Apley Farm Shop
To find out what’s on in June at Apley Farm Shop, click HERE & watch our mini film. We begin with Open Farm Sunday this weekend on 7 June, followed by Father’s Day on Sunday 21 June. But first this Saturday, why not join in Gilly Clayton’s Apley Cookery Club 10.30-12.30pm or browse our June Craft Fair in the Courtyard.
In between, we have Pigg’s Playbarn’s After School Club for June & July is musical, led by our very own in-house qualified musician Lydia. Plus the second part of our Three Season Gardening course in Apley Walled Garden, led by Phil Allen – who you may have heard on BBC Radio Shropshire’s Gardeners’ Question Time. If you missed it, just click HERE (for part 1) & HERE (for part 2) to listen again.
Whilst all that’s going on, our very own in-house butchery team Craig, Max & John are offering DIY tailor-made, barbecue meat trays – so you get only & exactly what you want – your favourite Apley sausages, Apley burgers, Apley beef, local chicken, koftas, kebabs.
Just next to the butcher, on our Delicatessen counter are the mini peppers stuffed with cream cheese – great if you’re hungry & supper’s not quite ready ! Always my favourites ! Every Saturday, enjoy free tasters from local suppliers of delicious Shropshire food & drink. It’s your chance to try before you buy & chat with the producers first hand.
New Jersey Royal potatoes are just arriving – perfect for a cold potato salad with your barbecue – followed by local strawberries. Buy 2 punnets & get a pot of cream half price. Combine that with Hobsons’ beer promotion – with every 3 beers you get a free beer glass or bottle opener.
From Apley Walled Garden this month, we have artichokes (we had the first last night for supper – delicious !), broad beans, lettuces, Spring onions, beetroot, new potatoes (soon!), rhubarb & strawberries (soon!). To see for yourself, how & where it’s all grown, book a private tour with Phil – just call 01952 730 345 (6 for the office). From Quatt, we still have in stock the last of this year’s asparagus.
The Creamery Cafe’s outdoor eating area in the Courtyard is the best place to enjoy the sunshine with our handmade iced lemonade. Enjoy Julie’s handmade cakes there at anytime of day or buy them in the Farm Shop enjoy them at home. The photography exhibition ends on 30 June when Jean Macdonald hangs her second exhibition at Apley, in aid of the Lingen Davies Cancer Fund.
Our free 45 minute Skylark Nature Trail is looking its best at this time of year – clouds of Cow Parsley & bird song. It’s a busy time for the donkey rides in Scotty’s Animal Park. As you head there, drop in at Lottie’s where she’s stocking homewares to complement her fashion. Apley Plant Centre will be open very soon, brimming with inspiring plants. Also in the Courtyard, whilst the children browse Alley Katz Toy Shop, treat yourself to a spot of Reiki or an Indian Head Massage in Annie’s Reiki Centre.
There’s always something on at Apley: Classic Car Sunday on 19 July, Apley Dog Show on 15 Aug, Apley Harvest Food Festival on 26 Sept & Spookley 26-31 Oct. We’re soooo much more than a Farm Shop !
