The unexpected calf born on Advent Sunday

Our Farm Manager Adrian Joynt just emailed me to say they had a surprise calf born on Mon 1 Dec – what a great way to begin December ! Adrian bought 2 cows in Bridgnorth Livestock Market in the Spring when she must have only been in the very early (less than 32 days) stage of pregnancy (cows have a gestation of 285 days).

This week, they (Mike, Ian, Bill & Adrian) are hedge cutting, treating the cows for gut worms & liver fluke, loading out grain & repairing machinery.
