Having an end of year clear out ?

Kosovan boy carrying school bag from Venetia’s school
At the end of last term, Venetia’s school held an appeal for school shoes & school bags for Kosovan children run by The Ideas Partnership. The campaign was called Get a Kosovan Kid to School.
Elizabeth Gowing, co-founder, clarified exactly what type of bags & shoes they’d accept: “We are very grateful for all shoes, with the exception of the very smallest (toddlers up to age 3 in the communities where we work go barefoot and tiny shoes are wasted). And any bags that will hold A4 school books would be very gratefully received. “
In these precious days with all the children at home for the school Christmas holidays, some of my time has been spent sorting their wardrobes for unwanted or outgrown clothes & shoes, which reminded me of this fab project. Especially as we head for mid winter & temperatures drop.
In this letter here, Elizabeth writes about a lack of shoes being the obstacle to getting children to school – it’s that simple & siblings who share 1 pair of shoes also have to share the school day (so they only get half an education).
So if like me, you’re having a clear out, why not get in touch with them on office@theideaspartnership.org to find out where to donate suitable unwanted shoes & bags.
