Apley Farm Shop – a Shropshire tourist destination
The 2016 brochure for Bridgnorth, Much Wenlock & Severn Valley (published by Shropshire Tourism) is now available, with Apley Farm Shop’s advert. In August 2014, we were in the UK’s top 10 destination farm shops by the BBC good Food Magazine. Every year we attract more & more tourists, being just off the M54 & near the fabulous group of ten Ironbridge Museums. Of course, it helps also being sandwiched between 2 busy roads – the A442 from Bridgnorth to Telford & the other (B4176, Rabbit Run) running from Wolverhampton to Shrewsbury.
We find self-catering tourists love the combination of being able to eat, play & shop in one place – in the Creamery Cafe, Pigg’s Playbarn & Apley Farm Shop, They stock up on Shropshire food (especially meat from the Apley butcher) & drink in the farm shop, as well picking up special presents from Shropshire, such as Neill Mapes’s chopping boards & wooden bowls. Parents & grandparents love our courtyard shopping whilst families love Pigg’s Playbarn & Scotty’s Animal Park, before or after a meal in our Creamery Cafe.
We always have some tourists at our regular events. So we’ve been busy this January finalising events for the whole year – St Valentine’s Day on 13-14 Feb, Mothers’ Day 6 March, the Apley Easter Funday on Mon 28 March, the first Apley Bake Off (still being finalised) on bank holiday Monday 2 May, Open Farm Sunday on 5 June, Fathers’ Day on Sunday 19 June, Apley Classic Motor Day on Sunday 17 July, nature days throughout August on our Skylark Nature Trail (still tbc), the 2-day Apley Harvest & Craft Fair 24-25 Sept, Spookley Pumpkin Festival on 15-16 & 22-31 Oct, the Apley Christmas Launch (I can’t believe I’ve mentioned it !) on Sat 12 Nov & finally, our 2-day Apley Christmas Food & Craft Fair 26-27 Nov. In addition, we’ll be holding 8 craft fairs & 11 more cookery clubs. All dates are on our online calendar.
