World Book Day at Pigg’s Playbarn

Mothers’ Day hampers

World Book Day, fundraising for Book Aid International
Pigg’s Playbarn staff celebrated World Book Day in style today, dressed up as their favourite book characters. Venetia went as Bellatrix Lestrange (in Harry Potter, played brilliantly by Helena Bonham Carter) & Francis insisted on going as Philip from Enid Blyton’s Castle of Adventures (no pictures in the book & hardly anyone else has read that series). It’s always such fun seeing so many different fancy dress costumes en route to school.
All the children who came today in fancy dress received a free cupcake. It’s a chance for schools to fundraise for Book Aid International, which sends books to needy African schools & libraries.
Mothers’ Day hampers are available in the farm shop – flowers, wine, prosecco, chocolates – there’s something for mother / grandmother there. The Mothers’ Day prosecco hamper is £15.75 (prosecco, bonbons chocolate tub & gingerbread) & the Mothers’ Day non-alcoholic hamper (Heartsease elderflower) is £9.95. After Mothers’ Day this weekend, they’re getting ready for the Easter Funday on bank holiday Monday 28 March, 10-4pm. Better get started, planning your Easter bonnet & Easter fancy dress, to enter our parade & competition on the day.
