Apley Walled Garden’s 2015 production

2016-04-08, How AWG has changed since 2012 - statistics temp JPEGApley Walled Garden’s 2015 production totals are clear in this graph I’ve just produced. Being married to an accountant helps, as he’s helped me with the rather complicated formula ! I’m producing the same graphs for 2013 & 2014, so we can really see trends, which help shape how we market & sell the produce.

We’re selling more & more to local restaurants (included in the grey ‘other’ line) for whom we offer a bespoke Grow to Order service. Produce supplied to our Apley butcher is also included in ‘Other’. The blue ‘shop’ line is Apley Farm Shop & the red ‘Cafe’ line is our Creamery Cafe. The yellow line is total production, peaking as expected in July.

This year, our polytunnels & a renovated glasshouse will allow all year round production.

Head Gardener Phil & his team of volunteers should be very proud (as am I !). It’s fab to see the garden back in production & the produce being enjoyed by so many, who may not otherwise get to taste such unusual & tasty fruit & veg. For gardens which had been unused for 60 years until Feb 2013, we’re more than delighted with these production figures.

On Mon 2 May, the day of our Apley Bake Off, Phil will give guided tours of the Walled Gardens at 11am, 1pm & 3pm. Tours are £10pp & will include a free shuttle bus service to & fro the gardens as parking is very limited & the park is strictly private. The sign-up form providing contact details must be completed beforehand. The tours last 1 hr & pre-booking will not be required, exceptionally for the Bake Off day.
