Union Jacks & marching soldier cups

Bunting decorated marquees

Too late in the day to add to these photos, which go part of the way to describing what a lovely afternoon (in spite of the rain) we had yesterday in Apley Walled Garden, fundraising £1800 for Stockton Church (opposite Apley Farm Shop) with 80-100 ticket holders. We are very grateful for the pretty china, which was borrowed from China Search & to all the ladies in the village who each made the spectacular cakes & table flower arrangements. We sheltered from showers in the bunting-decorated marquees. Gary Peach (Head Gardener), Gavin & I all gave guided tours. We toasted the Queen & thanked the many volunteers who made the day delightful for everyone. As always, it’s the attention to detail which counts. Treasurer Hilary had even printed Queen questionnaires & garden word searches. The children loved the soldier paper cups & union jack flags.

It was the first time the garden had been used for a large event & on an event lawn grown especially for the event. It was nearly a sell-out, so very probable not the last !

I’ve just received the list of those to thank:

Gary the Gardener, Tina Dalton, Ann Matthews, Jane Joynt, John Webb, Rae Parnham, Gavin & Hilary Blakeley. The cake-makers were Gwen Bennett, Christine Scott, Rene Davies & Sue Ward. David Ward (China Search) supplied the crockery. Thank you all !
