Christmas tree & decorations are up at Apley Farm Shop

The Apley Christmas tree 2016

First frost of winter 2016

The twig Christmas tree is handmade in Shropshire by Neill Mapes – this one is £40 without its decorations
Whilst I was in a meeting in the Conference room last Tuesday at Apley Farm Shop, I heard machinery outside & by the end of the meeting, this beautiful, huge Christmas tree had been put up in our shopping courtyard ! I’ll get a better photo when it’s lit. At this time of year, Apley Estate also deliver Christmas trees to a small selection of local schools & churches.
The shop decorations are also up – on a very rustic, canopy theme. There’s always more to be done – perhaps some twinkling, gold leaves now!?
Each year, my ideas are new & therefore untested. I can’t be sure they’ll work or look right until they’re done ! So this year, when we had a technical hitch at the 11th hour, Alan & Gavin had a shared moment of genius. They reappeared with some marquee fittings, which give the branches just the right angle to create the winter wonderland, Narnia, canopy effect which I had in mind. Whilst Natasha helped decorate the first branches in the shop, Lydia & Mia hung large new photos in the cafe, illustrating the huge variety of what goes on at Apley Farm Shop throughout the year, from Christmas mince pies in December to Open Farm Sunday in June.
Gavin & Francis helped me – neither are into craft at all, so I was especially grateful! Thanks to the whole team for helping bring it all together.
We’re selling Christmas trees again this year – sizes & prices to follow asap.
Only 2 weeks to go until our two-day Apley Christmas Food & Craft Fair Sat 26 & Sun 27 Nov (both days 10-4pm). Our lovely shopping courtyard will be jam packed with some of the best Shropshire food & drinks producers & Shropshire crafters. Come hungry & enjoy browsing & tasting their free samples! Items you can taste are then available in Apley Farm Shop (which is currently looking so mouth watering, stocked to the brim with delicious Christmas products).
