Phil Allen is back as Head Gardener of Apley Walled Garden
We’re all delighted to announce Phil Allen is back as Head Gardener of Apley Walled Garden. He began on 3 January, pretty much picking up where he left off in May last year. On day 1, we gave a talk to the Bridgnorth Horticultural Society & on day 2, we met the seed merchant from Kings’ Seeds, Paul Jamson, to select our 2017 crops. On day 4, he delivered to the Creamery Cafe chefs some rosemary & horse radish root, though the rhubarb will be another 2-3 wks. Sadly the Japanese Burdock is on the woody side ! On day 5, I took another tour booking. It’s now day 9 & he has just sent me this photo showing bed preparation. Fab progress already !
With all Heads of Department, we’ve just developed marketing plans for 2017, which includes working closely with Phil, to use what’s in season in our cafe / butchery / playbarn & farm shop.

This is great news. I cant hardly wait to see the harvest.
