Apley Walled Garden news

Fencing off unused greenhouses
On Thursday (16 March), I caught up with Phil who shared with me his news from Apley Walled Garden:
All the broad beans have been eaten by the mice so they’ll be resown in a private greenhouse which is watched over 24/7 ! The new event lawns will be sown on Monday. All the gooseberries, currants, blackberries & loganberries have all been mulched & pruned ready to produce delicious crops this summer, probably in August.
We have a small orange tree in our greenhouse which was covered in ants, until Phil treated them with Nippon. On Sunday morning, he discussed this with a lady on BBC Radio Shropshire’s Gardeners’ Hour, hosted by Paul Shuttleworth.
We’ve just taken 5 enquiries this morning for Apley Walled Garden tours – it must be the effect of the first days of warm spring sunshine & groups getting together to plan their activities for the year. Click HERE to book yours.
And if you’re looking for a gardening-related Mothers’ Day presents, head to the Apley Plant Centre in our Shopping Courtyard this Saturday (25 March) or click HERE to buy tickets for the Gardeners’ Question Time on Fri 19 May in our Creamery Cafe. Heaps of other ideas, range from hampers in the farm shop, meal deals on the Apley Butchery counter, Simnel cakes from the Apley Bakery (which may not actually be an Easter cake after all – click HERE!), flowers from Big Little Things, a massage in Annie’s Reiki Centre, a pottery experience in Paint & Create … endless choice!
