Apley Farm Shop supporting the Riding for the Disabled (RDA)

Just click on this photo to help them raise funds

Apley Farm Shop is currently supporting two charities: the Riding for the Disabled (RDA) & Operation Orphan.

The RDA has lots of groups all over the UK. The Perry RDA Group will move next year to Much Wenlock, where an awesome indoor riding school is being built, thanks to amazing fundraising work. It will be called the Cavalier Centre. If you’d like to help in a tiny way, please click HERE to vote for them to receive Aviva Community Funding for a hydraulic platform at the new site.

Here’s what Selina Graham, Project Manager, says:

We are building & the money keeps coming in – nearly £550,000 now!  We really need a hydraulic mounting platform to be operational next year & this is free if we can just get the votes.

Everyone has ten votes in the Aviva Community Fund latest round of voting. Perry RDA has raised over half a million pounds so far, over  £100,000 of which was through the K12 magnificent childrens effort. The Group is now working towards becoming operational at Much Wenlock by next summer, therefore we will definitely be needing the hydraulic mounting platform which is what we have asked Aviva to fund.  PLEASE do take the time to go through the following instructions and vote for us – AND ask all your family and contacts to do the same.  If we can get 300 of you vote then that is an amazing 3,000 votes and an almost certain decision in our favour.

The photos & logo here link you to the Aviva Community Fund Vote webpage.  Perry RDA desperately need as many votes as possible & will be really grateful for your help with this. Your 10 votes (plus 10 votes for any other email address in your household) are really, really important to them.

To vote you need to:
1. Click “Login/Register” – it’s a green button in top right hand corner
2. If you don’t have an account click the blue “register button” & fill out your details
3. They will send you a confirmation email. You need to click “confirm your email”
3. Then search for Cavalier Centre & click onto our page
5. To vote click all 10 votes on the bar & press “submit votes”

This makes it sound longer than it is, should only like a few mins.

The Perry RDA group will have a stand at the Apley Christmas Market on Sunday 26 November 10-4pm (the market also runs Sat 25 Nov 10-4pm). They will be selling mugs & their cards are already for sale in the farm shop.

It’s hard not to feel touched by this poem about a disabled child riding a pony:

I Saw A Child by John Anthony Davies

I saw a child who couldn’t walk,
sit on a horse, laugh and talk.
Then ride it through a field of daisies
and yet he could not walk unaided.

I saw a child, no legs below,
sit on a horse, and make it go
through woods of green
and places he had never been
to sit and stare,
except from a chair.

I saw a child who could only crawl
mount a horse and sit up tall
Put it through degrees of paces
and laugh at the wonder in our faces

I saw a child born into strife,
Take up and hold the reins of life
and that same child was heard to say,
Thank God for showing me the way.
