If you want some interesting & colourful potatoes on your plate this Christmas, then head to Apley Farm Shop this Saturday 9 Dec where you can choose from 6 exciting varieties which come in wonderful colours & patterns including red, yellow, purple, black or white.
They’re grown in Shropshire by Gerrol & Alison Jalving of Special Spuds who breed their own varieties, specialising in varieties with coloured flesh. Coloured flesh vegetables including potatoes are super healthy as they contain high levels of anti-oxidants and carotene just like in blueberries and carrots.
Gerrol has got a suitable potato for whatever you’re cooking – etc. some are better for chips than others, some better for mashing, some don’t fall apart easily when they’ve been boiled.
He came to Wolverhampton University to study civil engineering 20 yrs ago & met Alison. On graduating, he continued his father’s potato business in Holland, but here in Shropshire !

On Sun 4 Feb 2-18, 10-3pm at Harper Adams University, there will be a big annual (one day only) sale of seed potatoes. This is the largest seed potato collection & event in the Midlands. Seed potatoes are only available mid January for 1-2 months. Click HERE for more details.
