Venison talk, demo & dinner – how to book your place
Britain’s leading wildlife research charity is to hold a special venison evening in Shropshire this March to raise funds for its vital conservation research.
The dinner has been organised by the Shropshire branch of the Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust (GWCT). It will be held at the Creamery Café at Apley Farm Shop, Norton, Shifnal, on Thursday 15 March 2018, by kind permission Lord and Lady Hamilton of Dalzell.
The evening will begin at 7pm with a venison butchery demonstration by Apley Farm Shop’s head butcher, Bob Wassell. This will be followed by a half-hour talk about “deer and their challenges” by GWCT Game & Wildlife Advisor Austin Weldon. The three-course dinner will then be held from 8-10pm, with venison as the main course!
GWCT Shropshire committee chairman Tim Main says, “It promises to be an fascinating evening – touching on many aspects of what was once the quarry of kings. Venison is the ultimate red meat; it is higher in protein, vitamins and minerals than comparable red meats.”
Tickets for the evening are priced at £50 per head, to include dinner and all drinks. To book your place online please visit www.gwct.org.uk/shropshirevenison. Alternatively, please contact Pippa Hackett by phone on

The GWCT Shropshire venison dinner is kindly sponsored by Strutt & Parker, Handelsbanken and Addison Wines. For more information about the GWCT, its research and its activities please go to www.gwct.org.uk.
